5 Steps to Reinventing Yourself: It’s Time to Level Up!
“Just as established products and brands need updating to stay alive and vibrant, you periodically need to refresh or reinvent yourself.” —Mireille Guiliano
Grab a cup of tea. Let’s have conversation around the hot topic of reinvention. It’s not too late for a fresh start!
I love going into businesses that have been around for a while and seeing the beauty of renovation. It’s a sign that they are not only still in operation but continuing to grow, seeking to stay relevant and not afraid of change.
Imagine what that would look like for us as leaders! You are your brand. As the CEO of Remarkable Brand You, it is your responsibility to create the best version of yourself as you deliver your unique promise of value. Because the needs around you are constantly changing, you can’t be afraid of change to be successful.
From time to time, you must be willing to reinvent or refresh yourself. Take notice of celebrities such as Madonna, Lady Gaga and Beyonce–all well-known leaders in the entertainment industry who have no problem with enhancing and changing their look, attitude, craft or behavior in order to create the desired impression to open more doors of opportunity and lead to greater impact. Ultimately, they realize failing to revitalize will negatively affect their income potential.
It’s time to Uplevel Your Remarkability!
We must have the courage to change some aspects of ourselves–whether it is our personal style, image, confidence, mental and physical wellness or behavior. Our goal as the complete leader is to compete against ourselves to create the best versions of ourselves daily.
It’s not too late to seek that necessary transformation and allow a new you to be seen with grace and ease.
Are you ready to level up?
One of the easiest ways to accomplish this is through visualizing your brand. Following these five steps to reinventing yourself will lead you to the road of upleveling your remarkability through reinvention:
1. Dream Big.
Dream about the ideal version of you. What makes you remarkable? What are your strengths and weaknesses? Let your thoughts and ideas flow. What would you change about yourself if you had the power and resources? Create a list and include the changes needed to make your dream a reality.
2. Keep it Simple.
Focus on the top 3 things you wish to change. Remember: this is about grace and ease. Protect your energy. Focus on no more than a few things at a time so you can enjoy the process and see quicker results. Circle the top 3 things you want to work on. To illustrate, perhaps you want to:
- Change your hair color and style, lose 20 pounds, and wear a more sophisticated and mature style of clothing, OR…
- Grow your business, advance in your career and strengthen your relationships through networking.
3. Discover Your Why.
Contemplate and reflect on the reasons you want to make these changes. Delve deep within yourself to consider why making these changes are important to you. Have your experiences with being rejected or bullied caused you not to feel very positive about yourself? Do you believe making the desired changes will allow you to move closer toward the type of life you want?
Perhaps you think you’ll be happier or more successful when you take steps to become the person you want to be. Giving some thought to the reasons you want to change these aspects of yourself will help you recognize where you aim to go in life.
4. Get in Touch with Your Feelings.
Explore how you feel about beginning to work toward the changes. Do you feel positive, confident or afraid? Perhaps you are pleased that you’re finally going to “do something.” Perhaps you might be experiencing doubt or hesitant to get started. Why are you feeling this way? This step is integral to your motivation and capacity to stay the course of reinvention.
5. Connect with your feelings to be successful in creating a new you.
If you have serious doubts or even fears about taking steps toward what you want to be in life, consider consulting a life coach or counselor to help you move forward in your quest. Set Clear Goals. Design a brief plan with goals attached for each area you want to transform. Here are some things to consider:
- What do you specifically want to accomplish?
- Which mini-steps and habits will it take?
- Are those steps in alignment with your purpose and vision for your life?
- Who is going to support you and hold you accountable?
- How do you plan to take action and make it happen?
- What resources and support will you need?
- How will you reward yourself along the way and once you accomplish the goal?
- When will you get there?
Creating a new and improved you can be a very exciting time in your life. Embrace all of what it means to be The Complete Leader with all you’ve got. After all, becoming your best remarkable self from the inside out is worth it!
Final thoughts.
Remember, transformation does not happen overnight. Enjoy the process. Learn to scale back and rest as you learn in this journey of upleveling your remarkability. Keep in mind there’s a lot of time and energy that you are going to have to put into becoming keenly self-aware in order to make your goal a reality. Make the necessary improvements. The world is waiting to see and experience you taking your life to the next level.
