Let’s face it. The Reality TV craze has served as a great reinvention tool for the stars of those shows. But to what end? When you decide to re-enter the world after a hiatus or making a decision to do something different, how you choose to make your grand entrance can help determine your success. So let’s talk about success for a moment. Reality shows capture attention because it is a pseudo-glimpse into the lives of celebrities whose careers have taken a detour or whose agents think they need a shot of adrenaline.
On the other-hand, we all want to know what they’re up to and how their everyday lives might intersect with ours. As a result the ratings go up, and commercially, the shows are a success from a financial standpoint, because the stars make hundreds of thousands of dollars per episode. Sometimes, the content is endearing, but most of the time, it plays out like a bad soap opera complete with sex, drama and violence.
Not my desired idea of reality. Here’s what works when your desire is to introduce or reintroduce the REAL you through your leadership brand, in business, to the world:
Unapologetically connect with your passion and purpose
What would you do without pay if you could? What are you good at doing? Why would you do it? Merging those answers is where you should start. Your brand begins inside you; it’s what authenticates you. As you consider this entrepreneurial journey, you deserve to build a business that you love. This way, you are working, with grace and ease for a dream life that is worth living and pursuing.
Believe in yourself
You must believe that you are called to build something that is much bigger than you. Also, you have something unique to share with the world. Take the time to think about the experience and expertise that you can leverage that makes great things happen and gets results. You must choose to believe that it is possible for you to offer a product or service that is truly remarkable and valuable.
Find your authentic voice
Sometimes in life we can lose our way and think we don’t deserve to be heard. Consider your message, tone, personality, the manner by which you want to share it and the best environment for it to be received. Then, breathe deeply and speak clearly from your heart. Own your space. Know your value! Find your truth and the strength to share what you are about at your core with grace and ease.
Connect with your tribe
Not everyone will like you! However, there is a community of people that wants what you have to offer. However, in order to give them what they need and want, you must be willing to listen to them. This means that you must be connected on a heart level knowing their pressures, pain, problems, and pleasures. Then, connect not just to be heard but experienced.
Look the part
Be ready for the opportunities that will begin presenting themselves. If you’re actively seeking, you will find them. Be thoughtful about your visual presentation so as to have a credible, inviting and approachable presence. Create a branded style that is aligned from the inside out.
Your brand should be an extension of who you are. To come across as authentic, you have to be authentic. Expressing the real you means digging below the surface. Self-discovery is key. You need to understand what truly matters and allow yourself to support and nurture those needs. Once you can make that connection you can start to connect with others. Your voice will become stronger and more reflective of who you are.
Building a business can be a daunting process. The best way to make it easier is to show that you love who you are and what you do. Take the time to reflect on how you want to live your life and what you want to give back to this world. Believing in yourself creates confidence and confidence builds support. Don’t waste another day hiding the real you from the world. Look ahead, keep focused and be ready to seize the opportunity to make something REMARKABLE happen as the complete leader each and every day!
